Marble Hall (or Mountain Hall) in the Alexander Palace, near St. Petersburg, Russia

For children the slide would have been the most interesting object in the hall. It was ordered for the children of Nicholas I (1796-1855), but it was used by generations of Romanov children until the family’s exile to Siberia in August 1917.

Near the giant slide you can see the miniature Mercedes of Tsarevich Aleksey Nikolaevich (1904-1918), which was a gift from his parents on his birthday. It was brought here after the Revolution, and the visitors commended frequently on this car.
