”Eva Besnyö (1910–2003): The Sensuous Image” at Le Jeu de Paume (Paris) from May 22 – Sept. 23, 2012.
According to exhibition curators Marion Beckers and Elisabeth Moortgat, Eva Besnyö’s work was built on activism and formal research. Her photography “ranges from the New Vision, the New Objectivity, to social documentary, bordering on poetry and political activism. Which explains why the answer to the question “who is behind the camera” could be, in her case: a woman, Eva Besnyö, convinced that her pictures are capable not only of creating poetic fictions but also, at the same time, to describe reality, a reality that is at once multiple, fleeting, and sensitive.” (read more)
